Woman In Black London
There is one simple sentence to describe The Woman In Black – it is a purely gothic horror drama.
One of the few unanimously acclaimed plays in UK theatre history, The Woman In Black has been viewed and appreciated by more than seven million people since 1989. It is a brilliant execution concept to an appropriate story; a young solicitor who is sent to settle the affairs of a deceased woman. But a number of nights spent alone at her house brings him face to face with the dead woman’s ghost and a number of horrifying events that will certainly send your heart racing and your throat screaming too.
The play commences with a lone figure, standing on the edge of the stage and rehearsing the first few lines of his memoir when a person from the audience, probably the Director, corrects him. The Director is basically using the actor to perform his experience with the Woman In Black when he was a young solicitor. This ingeniously uncommon beginning to the play makes the audience feel part of the entire scenario and keeps their hearts throbbing throughout the two hours of the performance.
The Woman In Black, Stephen Mallatratts adaptation of Susan Hill’s novel combines the power of theatre, excellent cinematic experience and hair raising horror sequences that will ensure an evening of pure thrill and horror for everyone.
“Don’t go unless you like being scared out of your wits” – Sunday Mirror.
“A marvellous exercise in spine tingling tension, spun from perfectly paced storytelling and stagecraft……it’s a cracker.” – The Independent.
“A truly nerve-shredding experience” – Daily Mail.
“The most brilliantly effective spine chiller you will ever encounter…If you haven’t seen this show yet you are missing a treat” Daily Telegraph.
